Nintendo has officially announced the Nintendo Switch 2, set for release on June 5, 2025. The console will be priced at $449.99 USD, €469.99 in Europe, and £395.99 in the U.K. 
Key Features and Specifications:
•Display: The Switch 2 features a 7.9-inch LCD screen with a 1080p resolution, supporting up to a 120Hz refresh rate in handheld mode. When docked, it can output up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. 
•Performance: The console is equipped with a custom Nvidia processor, though specific details about the CPU and GPU have not been fully disclosed. It includes 256 GB of internal storage and supports microSD Express cards for expanded storage up to 2 TB. 
•Controllers: The updated Joy-Con 2 controllers attach magnetically and can function as mouse controllers in compatible games. 
•Audio and Communication: The Switch 2 introduces GameChat, a feature that enables real-time voice and video communication among players, enhancing the social gaming experience. 
Launch Titles and Compatibility:
At launch, the Nintendo Switch 2 will debut with titles such as Mario Kart World, which introduces a new ‘knockout’ mode. The console is also compatible with existing Nintendo Switch games, allowing players to enjoy their current library on the new system. 
Pricing and Availability:
Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 began on April 8, 2025. In Ireland, for example, electronics retailer Curry’s is offering the standalone console for €469 and a special Mario Kart bundle for €505.
